Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton senior outside hitter Erin Saddler was named the Big West Conference Player of the Week after guiding the Titans to an undefeated weekend and a Crowne Plaza Fullerton Titans Classic championship.
It is Saddler's third career weekly honor. Her three ranks only second in school history behind former volleyballer Brittany Moore's five weekly awards from 2005-2008.
The 6-foot-3 hitter from Bellflower, Calif., averaged 5 kills and 3 digs per set as the Titans won 9 consecutive sets over Montana, Georgia State and Colorado, and extended her season long streak to six matches with 13-or-more kills. She was named the tournament's most valuable player.
Versus Montana in the Titans' tourney opener, Saddler posted 16 kills with just two errors (.386) and also collected 8 digs and a block assist.
Saddler landed 16 more kills and racked up 13 digs (and 2 aces) in the second match of the weekend against Georgia State, good for her second double-double of the season.
In the Titan Classic finale, Saddler led all players with 13 kills, had 2 more aces and also added two blocks to secure her MVP honors.
Saddler and the Titans will head to Las Vegas this weekend to participate in the UNLV Tournament with UNLV, Eastern Kentucky and Pepperdine.
