Volleyball Picked to Finish 4th by BWC Coaches

Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton volleyball has been picked to finish fourth in the Big West Conference according the the annual preseason coaches poll released on Aug. 9.
The nine Big West head coaches picked Long Beach State to win its third consecutive Big West crown with UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara coming in at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Behind Fullerton is Cal Poly and UC Davis (tied for 5th), Pacific (7th), Cal State Northridge and UC Riverside (tied for 8th).
Since 1980, the Titans have never finished a season higher than 5th place in league action. This is marks the highest preseason vote for Fullerton in the history of the coaches poll.
Last year the Titans set a new program record with a .600 winning percentage (18-12) after posting a school record-tying 18 wins. They will return an AVCA All-American honorable mention in Kayla Neto (Soph., OH/MB, Clarksburg, Calif.) and three All-Big West first-teamers in Neto, Erin Saddler (Sr., MB, Bellflower, Calif.) and Cami Croteau (Sr., DS/L, Orange, Calif.).
Ninth-year Head Coach Carolyn Zimmerman (108-131, .452) looks to guide the Titans to their fifth straight season with 15-or-more victories and third straight year with 8-or-more Big West wins.
The 2010 volleyball season begins on Aug. 27 at USC (Los Angeles, Calif.) in the Luxe City Center Trojan Invitational. Fullerton will face off against Bucknell, Loyola Marymount and USC over the two-day tournament.
Fullerton's home opener will take place on Sept. 3 when it hosts Montana in the nightcap of the first day of the Crowne Plaza Fullerton Titan Classic.
