Colorado Springs, Colorado - USA Volleyball announced yesterday that senior lIbero Vanessa Vella and junior outsidehitter/middle blocker Brittany Moore have been chosen as two of 110 athletes who will participate in the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team tryouts Feb. 23-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
The tryout runs from 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, through 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007. Throughout the tryout process, USA Volleyball will be identifying prospective athletes for the U.S. Women's Volleyball National Team, U.S. Women's A2 Team and U.S. Women's Junior National Team.
Among the list of 110 athletes include 28 outside hitters, 22 setters, 23 middle blockers, 20 liberos and 17 opposites from 51 different colleges.
Female volleyball players who are United States citizens were eligible to tryout for the U.S. National Team, provided they have completed high school or are high school athletes born in 1987 or earlier. College athletes born in 1988 and 1989 will be evaluated for both the Junior National Team and National Team programs.
