Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton finished unscathed in the Fullerton Classic presented by the Embassy Suites Brea as they downed Yale, 27-25, 25-14, 25-22 Saturday night in Titan Gym.
The Titans, winners of their last six matches, improve to 10-3 on the year and 7-0 at home. All 10 of their victories have come via 3-0 sweeps of their opponents. Yale dropped to 6-4 on the year and finished 0-3 in the tournament.
Yale hit .186 as a team and were led by Bridget Hurst (14 kills) and Erica Reetz (11 kills). Setter Kendall Polan represented the Bulldogs on the all-tournament team and finished the match with 30 assists, 9 digs and a block assist.
Yale's Kelly Ozurovich led all players with 18 digs on the night. Reetz, who had the match's only double-double, finished with 10 digs.
Cami Croteau was the main defender with 17 digs for Fullerton.
Brown had three blocks (2 solos) and Saddler had 2 solos for the Titans who out-blocked the Bulldogs 5.0 to 4.0. Taylor Cramm and McHaney Carter each had two stuffs for Yale.
Fullerton plays its last home match of itscurrent homestand on Sept. 22 against nationally-ranked San Diego at 6 p.m. and then will open up Big West Conference action on Sat., Sept. 25 against nationally ranked Long Beach State at The Pyramid in Long Beach.
