San Diego, Calif. - A commanding game four Titan victory forced a game five, but seven errors by Cal State Fullerton in the deciding game handed San Diego State a 3-2 (26-30, 30-27, 30-25, 15-30, 15-12) victory in a non-conference volleyball match at Peterson Gym Tuesday night.
Fullerton evens its record at 5-5 heading into next week's Big West Conference opener at Titan Gym while San Diego State improves to 8-2 on the year.
Brittany Moore had her third straight match with 20-or-more kills, posting her third consecutive double-double in kills (20) and digs (21) in the losing effort. She also added three aces and four block assists. Alex Wolnisty capped the Titans' one-two punch with a career-high 18 kills and a whopping .720 attack percentage, tacking on 3 blocks in the losing effort.
Lindsey Mahan's 16 kills paced a trio of Aztecs with 10-or-more kills, while Aime Cordeiro scooped a staggering 44 digs for San Diego's fifth straight win. Lauren Salisbury led all players on the floor with five blocks at the net.
The Titans will now enjoy a much-needed 10-day break before the open of Big West Conference play on Sept. 21 at Titan Gym against UC Davis.
