Fullerton, Calif. - Erin Saddler hit. 355 with 14 kills and six block to lead the Cal State Fullerton Titans (3-3) to a four-game victory over the Portland State Vikings (4-2), as they earned the Holiday Inn Buena Park Titans Classic Championship for the second straight year at Titan Gym.
The Titans took the last two matches following the break, after splitting the first two, earning the tourney crown 30-25, 23-30, 30-26, 30-20.
The Vikings and Titans held close for all four matches, with 26 ties scores, and 11 lead changs throughout the match, but the Titans' .359 attack percentage to the Vikings' .114 in the final frame proved to be the difference.
Portland State's Jennifer Oney had 16 kills led all players, while Marija Vojnovic collected adouble-double scoring 14-kills and digs in the losing effort.
A Brittany Moore-less Titan sqad proved sufficient Saturday night as Saddler, Alex Wolnisty and Kellyanne Kirby all scored at least 12 kills apiece, while Sarah Day also added nine of her own. Moore sat our Saturday's matches with a leg injury.
Jalen Pendon was Portland State's lone member to the all-tournament team, collecting 61 digs in 12 games while adding three aces on the weekend.
Fullerton's Wolnisty, Day and Saddler all earned spaces on the all-tourney team, with Saddler boasting the Most Valuable Player award. Saddler tallied 31 kills while hitting .397 to lead the team on the weekend, collecting five aces and a team-high 11 blocks. Wolnisty led the Titans in kills with 40 and 3.33 kills per game. The middle blocker also added 10 blocks at the net and led the team in points with 45.0 in 12 games. Day totaled 30 kills and seven block assists in the three matches as well.
Holiday Inn Buena Park Titan Classic
