Boise, Idaho - Cal State Fullerton (1-2) picked up its first win of the season in game three of the Bronco invitational by defeating UTSA (0-3), 30-13, 30-21, 30-24, wrapping up tournament play Saturday evening at Bronco Gym.
With a 1-2 showing the Titans take third place in the tournament, while the Roadrunners finish in fourth place with an 0-3 start.
Freshman Erin Saddler led the team offensively, posting 13.5 total points behind eight kills, four aces and three block assists, also hitting a team-best .357 in the Titans' strongest showing of the weekend. Jennifer Francisco tied a career-high by blasting a match-high 11 kills to lead the Titan air attack.
A trio of Titans (Julie Geissert, Brittany Moore, and Cami Corteau) racked up double digits in digs, combining for 35 of the Titans' 54 on the night. UTSA's Audry Hiser paced the match with 16 on the night.
The Roadrunners' Victoria Prior led her squad with nine kills, three digs and a pair of blocks, hitting .368.
Moore and Day were included on the Invitational's all-tournament team release at the completion of the event Saturday night. Moore averaged 3.00 kills per game and tallied the second most on the team with 27 in the three-match tourney. She also added four service aces and a pair of block assists. Day posted 24 kills, 20 digs and seven block assists in her first collegiate games of her career.
The Titans now return home to host the 2007 Holiday Inn Buena Park Titan Classic at Titan Gym next Friday as Bowling Green, Stoney Brook and Portland State travel to Fullerton to take on the reigning champions.
