Boise, Idaho - The Cal State Fullerton Titans (0-1) opened the 2007 volleyball season with a three-game loss (30-21, 30-19, 30-20) to No. 24 Santa Clara (1-0) Friday afternoon in the first match of the Bronco Invitational held in Bronco Gym on the campus of Boise State.
Junior outside hitter Brittany Moore paced the Titans in kills with 10, but committed 10 hitting errors as well, leaving sophomore blocker Alex Wolnisty leading the Titan offense with nine kills and a .389 attack percentage. The Titans were unable to break through the Santa Clara defense, hitting no higher than .152 in any of the games and finished the match with a .096 assault.
As a team, the Broncos posted three straight games with a team attack percentage of .300 or better including a match-high .481 in game two, and was led by Lindsy Evans who posted a match-high 16 kills in 24 attempts (.583) and tacked on a pair of solo blocks in the win.
Freshman Erin Saddler picked up a pair of block assists in her first collegiate game to lead Fullerton at the net, while another Titan rookie, Sarah Day, scooped a team high 7 digs in her first appearance in a Titan uniform to head up the defensive effort in the back court.
The Titans return to the court Saturday with a matches against Boise State at 12:30 p.m. MT, and UTSA at 5 p.m. MT.
