TITANS `04: Had a great freshman campaign setting a then single-season digs record with 479, surpassing Stephanie Scofield's former record of 478 set in 1990 • Led the team by averaging 4.48 digs per game (6th in the Big West Conference) • One of three players (Alyssa Opeka and Lauren Goins) to play in all 107 games • Collected 11 or more digs in 25 of the 28 matches played and 20 or more digs in 10 matches • Collected a season-high 30 digs on Nov. 13 at Utah State, seven more than any other player • Set her career-high with three service aces on Oct. 15 versus Utah State • Picked up one kill on five separate occasions • Set her career-high with four assists on Sept. 15 at UC Irvine • Was named MVP of the Hawthorn Suites Titan Classic.

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered four years for Bishop O'Dowd H.S., earning all-league honors all three seasons, including first-team honors as a junior and senior • Named league MVP her final two years • Was the North Coast Section Player of the Year according to Cal Hi Sports • Also lettered four years for the soccer squad, earning all-league honors twice.

PERSONAL: Born on Nov. 24, 1986, in Oakland, Calif. • Parents are John and Patti Vella • Has three older brothers, Tony, Matt, and Nick • Would like to play overseas in the European volleyball leagues after her eligibility at Cal State Fullerton is completed • Would like to see perennial powerhouse Hawaii added to the Titans' schedule • Her father played offensive line in the NFL for the Oakland Raiders (1972-79) and the Minnesota Vikings (1979-80).
