Rookies Keep Up Winning Ways on Day Three

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Once again freshman Camille De Leon and Alexis Valenzuela were victorious for the Titans on Saturday at the UST/ITA Southwest Regional Championships at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.

De Leon, competing in the round robin of the Lucky Loser III bracket, defeated UC Irvine's Brooke Schweyer, 6-4, 7-6.

Valenzuela, also competing in the round robin of the Lucky Loser III bracket, edged UC Santa Barbara's April Scatliffe, 7-5, 6-2.

The only team remaining in the winner's bracket, the doubles team of De Leon and Jessica Pepa, lost to No. 7 seeded team of Matea Cutura and Ale Granillo of Pepperdine, 8-3, in the round 16.

In the doubles Lucky Loser bracket, Megan Sandford and Valenzuela defeated Eleanor Grossman and Jessica Perez of Loyola Marymount, 8-6.
