Titans Edge Stetson

FULLERTON, Calif. - Despite dropping the doubles point, Cal State Fullerton prevailed to edge visiting Stetson, 4-3, by winning four matches in the singles lineup on Thursday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.

The win thwarts a two-match losing streak for the Titans (7-6, 2-1 Big West), while the Hatters fall to 3-4.

Senior Tiffany Mai needed three sets, but picked up her fourth win of the season with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 win over Sara Lazarevich at the No. 1 spot.

Following Mai at the No. 2 position, Morgan McIntosh (6-5) dispatched Andrea Crespo, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Emilia Borkowski improved to 9-4 during her rookie campaign with a three-set 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Clarke Tatje.

Sophomore Kalika Slevcove accounted for the fourth win and point of the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Lindsey Cable. Slevcove is now 7-4 in 2013.

The Titans return to Big West Conference play on Saturday with a noon start at Cal Poly. The Titans will then travel to No. 56 UC Santa Barbara with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday.
