FULLERTON, CA - For the first time in a month the Cal State Fullerton softball team will hit the road this week for five games on hostile ground. The Titans open play with a Tuesday doubleheader at Loyola Marymount beginning at noon before heading up the California coast to open Big West Conference play at UC Santa Barbara. The series with the Gauchos begins on Saturday with a doubleheader at noon and concludes with a single game on Sunday, also at 12 p.m.

IN THE POLLS: Cal State Fullerton was receiving votes in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and USA Today/NFCA Coaches polls as of March 19. New polls will be released beginning on Tuesday.
A LOOK AT THE LIONS: Loyola Marymount enters the week with a 26-13 overall record, winning 13 of its last 15... the Lions split a pair of doubleheaders last week with Ohio State and UC Santa Barbara, winning the first game in each of the twinbills... senior Margo Pineda (.446) and freshman Christine Foley (.400) are each hitting .400-or-better with Pineda adding four home runs and 25 RBI... senior Kylie Conroy is the team's leading power hitter, batting .343 with a team-high six home runs and 27 RBI... LMU as a team is hitting .300... freshman Melissa Dykema leads the Lions in the circle with a 17-5 record and a 2.59 ERA to go with 131 strikeouts... junior Tiffany Pagano is 9-8 in the circle with a 2.64 ERA and a team-best 142 strikeouts.
A LOOK AT THE GAUCHOS: UC Santa Barbara enters the week with a 19-8 overall record and will meet UCLA on Tuesday at noon in a single game before hosting the Titans in its Big West Conference opener at Campus Diamond... in their only action last week, the Gauchos split a doubleheader with LMU and have won three of their last four... sophomore Christine Ramos leads the team with a .409 average, 20 runs scored, and eight stolen bases... freshman MeLinda Matsumoto leads UCSB in the circle with nine wins in 10 appearances while senior Jennifer Davis, who is just 3-6 this season, leads the team with a 1.17 ERA and 77 strikeouts and a .149 batting average against.
