SAN DIEGO, CA - The Cal State Fullerton softball team dropped its final two games at the San Diego Classic on Saturday afternoon, falling to Utah by a 7-2 count before suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of No. 5 Texas A&M.

The Titans, who have now lost three straight, fell to 14-13-1 overall on the season heading into next week's prestigious Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field.

In the opener, senior Kiki Munoz had three hits and junior Lauren Lupinetti added a two-run home run, but it wasn't enough to put Fullerton past the Utes in a 7-2 loss.

Munoz led off the second inning with a single through the right side and scored two batters later when Lupinetti sent a 3-1 pitch over the fence in left for the quick 2-0 lead.

That advantage was short-lived, however, as Kara Foster's bases-loaded three-run double with two outs keyed a four-run third inning that put the Utes ahead for good. Kristie Keller added a two-run double and Diana Phillips had an RBI single in the fourth inning to cap the scoring.

Fullerton left 10 runners on base - seven of those in scoring position - including the bases loaded in the third and runners at second and third in the fifth.

Senior Katie Gollhardt also finished with two hits on the day for the Titans.

Freshman Christine Hiner (6-7) suffered the loss for Fullerton, allowing five earned on five hits in three innings of work. Freshman Ari Cervantes entered in relief and allowed two runs on three hits in four innings.

Brittany Parker (5-6) earned the win for Utah, allowing the two runs on eight hits while striking out six in the complete-game effort. Keller finished with two of the team's eight hits to pace the Utes' offense.

In the second game of the day, Texas A&M's Jamie Hinshaw finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and Megan Gibson scattered five hits while striking out seven in the circle to lift the Aggies to the 4-1 win.

A bout of wildness by Fullerton starter Jessica Doucette (8-5) led to the first A&M run as Macie Morrow led off the first inning with a walk and moved to second on a sac bunt. Back-to-back wild pitches then scored the sophomore to give the Aggies the 1-0 lead.

Texas A&M plated three more runs in the third thanks in part to three straight extra-base hits - all coming with two outs. A triple by Hinshaw set the stage as she was followed at the plate by Erin Glasco (double) and Holly Ridley (triple) to make it 3-0.

After a walk to Alex Reynolds, the Aggies then successfully executed a double steal as Ridley swiped home plate to make it 4-0.

Gibson (16-0) held the Titans scoreless until the sixth inning as sophomore Sheila Holguin led off with a walk and moved to second on Katie Gollhardt's single to right. After a pop up and a passed ball, Holguin would score on Courtney Martinez's sacrifice fly to left to spoil Gibson's shutout bid and make it 4-1.

Gollhardt finished with two hits to lead the Titans' offense.

Cal State Fullerton returns to the field next Wednesday night (March 19) as the Titans open the third annual Judi Garman Classic at Anderson Family Field. Fullerton will host the U.S. National Team in an exhibition game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to open up tournament play.
