LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton bounced back from being swept in yesterday's doubleheader with 12 runs to defeat Loyola Marymount, 12-5, in the series finale on Friday.
The Titans wasted no time getting their offense going as they plated their first run in the first two batters after Alexa Neil singled to lead off the game and came in to score on an Ari Williams triple.
LMU struck for their first run of the game in the bottom of the second on a solo home run to cut the Fullerton lead in half.
Fullerton would answer back immediately with four runs in the third capped off by Janelle Rodriguez' RBI single.
The Titans would get another run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to put the run-rule into effect as they led it 9-1. However, the Lions would respond with a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to keep the game alive.
Fullerton would get all three runs back in the top of the seventh including a two-RBI single from Williams. Loyola Marymount would attempt a rally in the bottom half, but Sophie Frost came out of the bullpen and shut down the Lion offense.
The Titans are back in action on Tuesday as they head to Westwood to face No. 1 UCLA at 6:00 p.m.
