Auburn's King Crowns Titans in 2-0 Shutout

LOS ANGELES, CA - Auburn's Julie King tallied her first two goals of the season, one in each half, on Sunday morning and the No. 21 Tigers outshot Cal State Fullerton by a 12-8 count on the day en route to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Titans to conclude play for both teams at the Trojan Invitational hosted by USC at McAlister Field.
The loss was the second straight for Fullerton as it fell to 2-4 overall on the season while Auburn - the third nationally ranked opponent for the Titans in 2010 - improved to 5-2 overall on the year.
King netted her first score in the 16th minute with help from teammates Gabi Rivera and Katy Frierson while adding a second score off assists from Christine Schweer and Mary Coffed in the 74th minute to ice the contest. King had four shots to lead all players on the day while goalkeeper Amy Howard was forced to make just one save in recording the shutout.
Cal State Fullerton continues its six-game road swing next weekend against a pair of first-time opponents as the Titans take on Nebraska in Lincoln on Friday (Sept. 17) at 5 pm CT before heading to Omaha to take on Creighton on Sunday (Sept. 19) at 12 p.m. CT.
