Box Score

San Diego, CA - USC scored all four of its goals in the first 28 minutes of the match and the Women of Troy held a 19-5 shot advantage on the night as they handed Cal State Fullerton a 4-0 loss on Friday evening in the opening match of the USD Nike Classic in San Diego, Calif.

The Titans fell to 0-3 overall to start the 2009 season, falling in their first meeting against former head coach Ali Khosroshahin, who left Fullerton prior to the 2007 season to lead the USC program. The Women of Troy won their first match of the year, improving to 1-2 overall.

It took only 2:16 to put USC ahead as Courtney Garcia took a pass from Samantha Johnson and put it away for her first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead. Megan Ohai made it 2-0 in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season, finishing a pass from Ashli Sandoval.

Johnson then had a hand in the Women of Troy's final two goals, scoring unassisted in the 19th minute after moving in from 20 yards and firing to the left corner. She then posted an assist on Alyssa Davila's first goal of the year, crossing a ball that deflected off the Titan keeper right to Davila's feet, who cleaned up the rebound for the final 4-0 score.

Five different Titan starters had shots on the night with freshman Brisa Gonzalez and sophomore Stacey Fox putting attempts on net. Johnson led all players with seven shots on the night.

Cal State Fullerton closes out tournament play on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 6) at 1:30 p.m. as the Titans take on No. 12 San Diego.
