PALM DESERT, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's golf move up four spots in the second round of the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club in Palm Desert to finish the first day of the tournament in fourth place with a 44-over par 620.
Fullerton is 22 strokes behind tournament leading Santa Clara and is one stroke behind UC Riverside for third place.
After round one the Titans were in eighth place with a score of 314, however, they improved by eight shots in the second round to move up to fourth place be the end of round two.
Pauline Welker was one of the biggest differences for Fullerton in round two of the intercollegiate as she improved by eight shots to go from being tied for 37th with a 8-over par 80 at the end of round one to a 10th place tie after shooting a 72 even at par in round two.
Sophomore Elsa Lundquist once again led the Titans, shooting a 6-over par 150 through two rounds of the tournament. Lundquist shot a 75 in both rounds one and two.
The Titans return to the links Sunday for the third and final round of the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate.
