Fullerton Earns Second Place Finish in Battle at Old Works
ANACONDA, Mont. – Following a fourth place finish on day one of the Battle at Old Works Tournament Tuesday, Cal State Fullerton women's golf rallied in the third and final round to earn second place in the team's first tournament of the season.
The Titans saved their best round for last, shooting a 4-over par 292 to finish the entire tournament with a score of 23-over par 887. Fullerton's 292 score in the third round was the best score of any team in the field on the final day. North Dakota State took the top spot in the tournament with a 14-over par 878.
In addition to Fullerton's great team finish, it had two top-10 individual finishes. Pauline Welker wrapped up the tournament tied for third place with a 2-over par 218. After the first two rounds Welker sat in a three-way tie for fifth place but shot a 1-over par 73 to improve three spots in the final round.
Sophomore Elsa Lundquist moved up eight spots to finish the tournament tied for sixth place with a 3-over par 219. Lundquist shot a 1-under par 72 in the third round.
Brittany Farrell tied for 15th place at 9-over par 225. Farrell had her best performance of the tournament in the third round with a 1-over par 73 to move up four spots on the final day.
Felicia Medalla tied for 28th with a 15-over par 231 while Britney Sok finished tied for 31st with a 18-over par 234.
The Titans return to the links Monday Sept. 18 when they head to Washington State for the Cougar Cup at Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
