Media, Coaches Both See Titans in Sixth Place

Nov. 2, 2005

Irvine, Calif. - Both the media members and the head coaches predicted a sixth-place finish in the Big West Conference women's basketball standings for Cal State Fullerton at the annual pre-season Media Day Wednesday in Irvine.

Defending champion UC Santa Barbara was picked for first place in both polls but the Gauchos were not unanimous selections. They got 9 of 10 first-place votes from the media and 6 of 8 from the coaches, with two opting for Long Beach State. The balance of the poll was identical from both groups with Long Beach second followed in order by Cal Stae Northride, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Fullerton, Cal Poly and Pacific.

A pre-season all-conference team was picked by the media. It consisted of Kemie Nkale of UCR, Ofa Tulikihihifo of Northridge, Jenna Green of UCSB, Crystal McCutcheon of Long Beach, Tina Sanerivi of Pacific and Angie Ned of UCI.
