FULLERTON, CA - The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team celebrated its 2009-10 season and honored three of their own recently at the program's annual postseason banquet and awards dinner held on May 13 at the Golleher Alumni House on campus.
Speakers on the night included members of each class: Lauren Bushong for the freshmen, Megan Richardson for the sophomores, and Lyndsey Grove for the juniors as well as moving farewell speeches from departing seniors Jasmine Scott and Toya Fontenot, who recently completed their collegiate playing careers and will be walking in this weekend's commencement ceremonies.
Three Titans were also honored with season-ending awards as voted on by the coaching staff. Junior Katie Avila was named the inaugural winner of the "Rock Award," given to the player who displays attitude of a true teammate.
Junior Ashley Richie was honored with the "Titan Toughness" award, given to the player who displays a tremendous amount of character and work ethic, displaying 100 percent effort at all times.
Finally, sophomore Megan Richardson was awarded the second annual Dr. Maryalyce Jeremiah Titan Excellence Award for her display of excellence on the court and in the classroom. Junior Lyndsey Grove was honored with the inaugural award following the 2008-09 season.
