FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton junior forward Toni Thomas was named the Big West Conference Co-Player of the Week on Wednesday morning after a high-scoring effort against Saint Mary's last weekend.
It is the first award of the season for a Titan player and Thomas' fourth honor in her career. Pacific's Karen Dawkins also earned a share of her first honor of the year.
Thomas, the Big West's leading scorer at 18.1 ppg entering this week's games, netted a game-high 29 points in the Titans' last-second road loss to Saint Mary's on Dec. 29.
The scoring performance helped her leapfrog four players to move into 12th place on the school's all-time scoring charts. Thomas hit a career-high four three-pointers in five attempts and extended her double-digit scoring streak to 31 consecutive games.
Saturday night marked her 20th career 20-point game and her 60th double-digit scoring performance in 70 career contests. Thomas led the team in scoring for the seventh time in 10 games and led the team in rebounding for the ninth time this season against the Gaels.
Fullerton looks to start the new year with a bang on Friday night (Jan. 4) as the Titans travel to UC Irvine for their Big West opener at 7 p.m.
