FULLERTON, CA - Senior Megan Richardson led all scorers with a game-high 19 points, pacing two teammates in double figures, and the Cal State Fullerton defense forced visiting UC Irvine into 26 turnovers on the day, helping lift the host Titans to a 58-44 win over the Anteaters on Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.

The win lifts Fullerton (11-16 overall, 4-10 in the Big West Conference) into the eighth and final spot for this year's league tournament, one game ahead of UC Riverside (3-11 in conference play). The Highlanders face UC Irvine next weekend in their conference finale while the Titans have games at Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge remaining on the schedule next week.

The Anteaters fell to 12-16 overall and 8-7 in league play, watching their three-game winning streak over Fullerton come to an end.

Richardson was joined in double figures by Mya Olivier and Kathleen Iwuoha, who scored 10 points apiece, while senior Lauren Chow finished with nine points, six rebounds, and five assists.

Jasmine Bernard finished with 12 points off the bench for UC Irvine, the only Anteater in double figures. Kassandra McCalister, who entered the game averaging 14.1 ppg, was held to just three points on 1-of-7 from the field.

Cal State Fullerton never trailed in the contest, using a 14-2 first-half run over a five-plus minute span to turn a five-point game into a 25-8 lead with just under nine minutes to play in the opening period. The Anteaters would get closer than 11 points at 25-14 with 5:11 to play in the first half as the Titans used a 7-3 burst to close out the period and lead, 32-17, at the break.

An 11-4 run out of the locker room gave Fullerton it's largest lead of the game, 43-21, with 12:28 remaining and Irvine would get no closer than 11 points with 5:51 to play and again with less than two minutes to go.

The Titans turned the Anteaters' 26 turnovers into 24 points on the night, but UCI held a slim 35-34 advantage on the boards.

Fullerton heads to Long Beach to take on the 49ers on Thursday (March 1) at 7 p.m. before taking on the Matadors in the regular-season finale on Saturday (March 3) at 4 p.m.
