RIVERSIDE, CA - UC Riverside's Kemie Nkele and Tainoisouti Lott each tallied double-doubles as the Highlanders rolled to a 64-48 Big West Conference women's basketball victory on Saturday night at the Student Recreation Center in Riverside, Calif.

The loss drops the Titans to 7-11 overall and 2-3 in Big West play. UC Riverside improved to 10-7 overall and remained in first place in the Big West with a 4-1 record.

Fullerton senior Charlee Underwood led the Titans with 16 points to go with six rebounds and four steals. Sophomore Toni Thomas also finished in double figures with 15 points and seven boards.

Senior Ariel Adams got the Titans off to a quick start with the first basket of the game, but the Highlanders responded with an 8-0 run, holding Fullerton scoreless for almost four minutes.

UCR increased its lead to as many as seven points at 15-8 with just under 11 minutes remaining, but back-to-back three-pointers by Underwood brought the Titans to within a single point at 15-14 with 10:05 to go in the period.

From that point on, it was all Highlanders as they exploded for a 22-6 run over the final 10 minutes to take a 37-20 lead into the lockerroom at halftime.

The Titans battled back midway through the second half, holding the Highlanders scoreless for a five-minute stretch to close to within 10 points, but Fullerton could not get the deficit into single digits as UC Riverside led by as many as 21 points in the final minute.

Nkele scored a game-high 19 points to go with 11 rebounds while Lott finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Brittany Waddell scored 15 points - including 10 of those during a three minute stretch late in the second half.

UC Riverside outrebounded Cal State Fullerton, 43-28, for the game and shot 48 percent from the field to the Titans' 32 percent. Fullerton attempted 22 three-pointers for the game, making only five and shot an uncharacteristic 54 percent (7-of-13) from the free throw line.

Fullerton returns to action next week as the Titans play host to Long Beach State on Thursday night (Jan. 18) at 7 p.m. at Titan Gym.
