Taja Edwards, a native of Carson, Calif., comes to Cal State Fullerton and joins Daron Park's staff after spending the previous year as an assistant women's basketball coach at Ole Miss.

"Taja is an outstanding individual with a bright future in women's basketball," said Park. "I knew her at Fresno State and I am confident that her passion, commitment, and knowledge of the game will be a huge help for our student athletes."

Edwards is also the founder, coach, and director of operations for the Cal Sparks Extreme, based in Fresno, Calif. It was founded in 2011 and serves as a non-profit organization geared towards helping young girls experience the love of playing basketball.

As a player, Edwards was a four-year letterwinner at Fresno State where she won four Western Athletic Conference titles and was a part of four NCAA Tournament appearances.

While at Fresno State, she also completed an internship with the external media relations department and served as a media escort at the 2012 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds.

She also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Vice President in 2010 and earned her bachelor's degree in communications in the spring of 2011.
