RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton fell to UC Riverside 62-59 on the road Thursday night at the SRC Arena after a strong second half performance.
The Titans trailed by as many as 11 points but made a valiant comeback to take the lead in the second half. Ultimately, Fullerton wasn't able to sustain the lead.
Daeja Smith led the team in scoring with 14 points on an impressive 7-of-10 from the field while adding three rebounds. Amiee Book had an impressive night for the Titans, recording a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Point guard Raina Perez had a big part in getting the Titans back into the game as should poured in 13 points points while dishing out eight assists on the night.
UC Riverside was led by Jannon Otto who posted 22 points on 10-of-21 shooting with five assists and three rebounds.
Trailing by five points late in the game, Perez come down the court and knocked down a three-point bucket to pull the Titans within just two points. Fullerton then got a big stop on the defensive end but were unable to come up with a bucket to tie the game up.
The Titans look to bounce back Saturday when they head to UC Irvine in the battle for Orange County with tip-off at 3:00 p.m. PT.
