FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton improved to 4-4 on the season after 64-56 victory over CSU Bakersfield on Saturday night in game one of the Homecoming double-header.
Jade Vega and Raina Perez matched each other with 17 points to lead the game scoring. Vega had three assists and six rebounds while Perez had four assists and a pair of steals to go along with their 17 points. Amiee Book was the only other Titan in double-figures with 10 points.
Daeja Smith dealt with foul trouble all game and came up just shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocks. Carolyn Gill only had two points, but pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds.
CSU Bakersfield only had one reach double-figures as Alexxus Gilbert finished with 17 points.
After a strong first quarter, Fullerton would end up on the wrong end of a 16-0 run as the Roadrunners would take commanding control of the game in the second. However, Fullerton would respond with a 7-0 run before the half came to an end as they trailed by just four at the break.
Vega took over in the third as the Titans outscored the 'Runners 18-9 to reclaim the lead and never look back.
Fullerton heads to the east coast next week as they face Columbia on Wednesday.
