LONG BEACH ST.: Long Beach took the first game of 2016 from the Titans when the 49ers broke the Big West team single game 3-point field goals made record.
BREAKING DOWN THE 49ers
Head coach Jody Wynn is in her 7th season at the helm of the 49ers and led the program to their first 20-win season for the first time in 15 years. Wynn has a record of 7-7 against the Titans in her six year career and has totaled a career coaching record of 90-99.
Long Beach State most recently beat UC Irvine in a 71-65 victory to even out their Big West record at 2-2. Long Beach State is led by junior guards Raven Benton and Jewelyn Sawyer who have averaged 12.3 and10.3 points per game, respectively.
CONSISTENCY IS HER NAME
Junior Sami Logan has proven to be the consistent Titan throughout the season, coming in clutch numerous times. Most recently, the Corona native led the Titans against Cal Poly, opening up the second half by scoring eight points in the third quarter to regain the Titan lead. This season, Logan has had five double-digit scoring games while having two games with double-digit rebounds.
NUBLA AT IT AGAIN
Freshman Lauren Nubla had another big night as the freshman tied her individual season and career records on Saturday against Cal Poly. Nubla tied her season-high in points (11) and field goals made (5).
IN THE NAME OF THREE'S
The Titans currently lead the Big West in 3-point field goals made with 113 on the year, while freshman Dani Craig leads all individuals in the Big West in 3-point field goals made with an average of 2.6 per game.
Freshman Michelle Berry is currently on pace to possibly break a few single-season freshman records, including the overall points record of 445 (Berry 226) set by Nancy Ratliff in 1980-81 and free throws made set by Toni Thomas in 2005-06 of 94 (Berry 41).
Michelle Berry recorded her third in five games and fifth overall double-double of the season with a 14 point, 11 rebound performance against UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night. In the last six games, Berry has recorded 52 rebounds with four double-digit rebound performances.
BIG WEST BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ALL-SESSION TICKETS ON SALE
Honda Center and the Big West Conference have announced that all-session tickets for the 2016 Big West Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament will go on sale Friday, November 13.
All-session school reserved tickets will be available for $69.00. These seats will be located within a school's section and can be purchased through each institution's box office.
Premium all-session tickets located in the first four rows of seating will be available for $149.00. General admission all-session tickets are also available for $69.00. These seats can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster retail outlets, or by calling 800-745-3000.
The 2015 Big West Tournament will be hosted for the sixth straight year at Honda Center in Anaheim. The women's tournament first round and quarterfinal games will be played at UC Irvine on March 8-9. The men's tournament begins on March 10 at Honda Center with four quarterfinal games. The semifinals and championship games for both the men and women will take place March 11 and 12 at the Honda Center.
