Fullerton, Calif. - Brianna Barfield, Mya Olivier and Alex Thomas begin their senior seasons as first-year head coach Daron Park leads the 2013-14 women's basketball team in an exhibition game at 7 p.m. in Titan Gym on Wednesday with the Lancers from California Baptist University.
The team features five returning starters from last year's squad, including Annie Park, Chante Miles and Kathleen Iwuoha that finished 11-22 and eighth in the Big West Conference. Miles averaged 10.5 points per game and 2.81 assists per game, Thomas recorded 8.4 ppg and 3.1 rebounds per game, while Olivier chipped in 7.2 ppg and 5.3 rpg. Iwuoha led the team in rebounds with a 6.9 average and added 5.7 points. Barfield averaged 21.6 minutes per game and added 5.5 ppg and 3.3 rpg to her team's cause.
Rounding out the team are returning veterans Tailer Butler (5.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.24 apg), Natalie Williams (1.7 ppg, 2.4 rpg), Hailey King (1.4 ppg, 1.0 rpg), Xava Grooms (0.9 ppg, 1.8 rpg), Briana Hubbard (0.4 ppg, 0.3 rpg), and Chelsea Austin (0.2 ppg, 0.8 rpg).
Admission to the two exhibition games that the Titans will host, tomorrow night and Friday night, Nov. 1 vs. CS Dominguez Hills also at 7 p.m., will be free. Cal State Fullerton's coaching staff features all new faces as Park added Tammi Reiss, Taja Edwards and Steven Fennelly during the off season. Becky Burke is the team's Director of Basketball Operations and Jaime Potter is the Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Fullerton begins the regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Titan Gym when it plays host to South Dakota.
