FULLERTON, Calif. -- Senior Mark Anguiano led Cal State Fullerton men's golf team to a pair of third place individual finishes, and garnered Big West Men's Golfer of the Month honors for March, the league office announced on Thursday.
This is the second straight Golfer of the Month honor for the senior after garnering the accolade in February, highlighted by a first place finish at the Fullerton hosted Folino Invitational Feb. 17-18.
The Whittier, Calif. native shot under-70 in five out of six rounds this month pioneering the Titans to two top-eight finishes in the Del Walker Intercollegiate and Desert Shootout.
Anguiano continued his strong spring season firing back-to-back rounds of 66 in the Del Walker hosted by Long Beach State, Mar. 3-4. The senior shot a final round of 73 to finish the event 5-under-par 205, leading the team to an overall sixth place.
At the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. Mar. 20-22, Anguiano marked a 12-under-par 204. Shooting rounds of 69-66-69, the senior placed in the podium again with a third place finish amongst 90 total golfers competing. The Titans finished the event in fourth place, chalking up the team's eighth top-8 finish of the Fullerton spring schedule.
Following the two events in February, Anguiano has now shot a team-high 21 rounds of par or better in the 2013-14 season.
