LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Cal State Fullerton senior Dakota Duerr fired a one-under total on Monday, helping the Titans move into fourth place after 36 holes at the 2013 Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic at the Virginia Country Club after two rounds of play.
The Murrieta, Calif., native finished the day tied for fifth place at one-under par for the tournament. Duerr shot a one-over par in the first round, but shot a two-under par in round two. Duerr shot four birdies in his first round and three in his second round.
Cal State Fullerton's Michael Choe, who is competing as an individual, is currently in third place after shooting a one-under par (69) in round one and a 2-under par (68) in round two. Choe added an eagle on the 18th hole in round two to put him at two-under par. Choe has competed as an individual in the past two tournaments (Folino Invitational).
Four Fullerton players finished in the top 20, as the Titans finished 8-over par for the day with a 568-- Cal State Fullerton is 12 shots off the lead of Pacific, which stands at 4-under for the tournament. Long Beach State and Marymount are both 4-over par after 36 holes.
Pacific's Alex Edfort finished with a four-under-par 70 for the first round, a one-under par for the second round and is the individual, 36-hole leader with a five-under-par 135.
Junior Corey Gard shot a first-round 68 and a second round 72 to fall into a tie for eighth at even par for the tournament. Gard shot an eagle on the 18th hole to put him at four-under par, after starting on the back nine. Sophomore Ryan Tetrault was two-over on Monday to fall into a tie for 13th place. Junior Josh Park also competed as an individual shot a first round 79, but came back in the second round to shoot a one-under par to move him into a tie for 30th place after 36 holes.
