FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Cal State Fullerton men's golf program has announced the signing of three high-school standouts to National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Titans, Head Coach Jason Drotter announced.
Hunter Thompson (Richland, Wash./Richland HS), Matt Murphy (Trabuco Canyon, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS), and Martin Manalo (West Covina, Calif./Servite HS) will join Fullerton's roster beginning with the 2013-14 season.
Brief bios for each of the signees are below.
A four-year varsity letter winner at Richland High School in Washington… finished third at the 2011 Washington State 4A tournament, helping the team to a third-place finish… three-time Washington State 4A tournament qualifier… first-team All-Columbia Basin Big 9 Conference honoree as a sophomore and junior… won individual medalist honors at the 2011 Columbia Basin Big 9 Tournament as a sophomore… helped lead Richland HS to three district titles… team captain as a junior and senior.
Three-year varsity letter winner at Santa Margarita Catholic High School… shot a 73 to help the Eagles to the 2012 CIF Southern Section title as a junior… competed in the California State Finals in 2012… finished second at the Southwest Junior competition in Tempe, Ariz., in 2012, and placed among the top five in three other tournaments… twice participated in the Pro/Am Invitational at the Plantation Golf Club… first-team all-league selection as a sophomore.
four year varsity letter winner at Servite High School...helped lead Servite to back to back Trinity League titles as a freshman and sophomore...was a part of Servite's back-to-back CIF champion golf team in 2010-11...was the individual champion in the Servite Invitational in 2012, shooting a 69...posted career low tournament round of 65 (-7) at Los Coyotes Country Club in 2011… Friars finished second at the 2010 California State Championships.
