LAST GAME: The Titans were outscored 24-12 down the stretch and lost at Portland State Sunday, 93-89, despite a career-high 32 points from Orane Chin and a perfect shooting night (7-for-7 FGs, 5-for-5 FTs) and 19 points from Jer'Vaughn Johnson. Both fouled out -- Johnson at 1:16 and Chin at 0:48 when the Titans were up, and then down, by a single point. Fullerton shot .596 from the floor, .450 at the 3-point line.

NO EXPERIENCE: With no two-years or more lettermen, the Titans field a roster that has a total of only nine seasons of Div. I experience (Johnson 3, Hardy 2, Chin 2, Williams 1 and Peltier 1) and only four of those are at Fullerton (Johnson, Chin, Williams and Peltier, 1 each). With Johnson and Hardy sidelined, the Titans took only eight healthy scholarship players to Oahu with a total of four seasons of Div. I experience.

THE COACH: Bob Burton is 126-99 in his eighth season at Cal State Fullerton and career. He has the most victories at the Div. I level and trails only Alex Omalev (139-176 in 12 years) all-time. Burton's winning percentage of .560 trails only Bobby Dye (.583, 109-78). He is 0-1 vs. Arizona.

ROAD STRUGGLES: Under Bob Burton, the Titans have made dramatic strides as a road team. Despite a 1-7 record this season, they are 59-59 (.500) away from Titan Gym (includes 11-15 on neutral floors) from 2004-05 through the present. For the previous 10 seasons (1994-95 thru 2003-04) the combined road record was 30-115 (.207). With a 3-11 mark in his first season (2003-04), Burton's total CSF road record is 62-70 (.470).

FRIENDLY CONFINES: Under Bob Burton, the Titans are 64-29 (.688) in Titan Gym including 34-3 (.919) in non-conference games. Fullerton has won its last 12 and 31 of its last 32 home non-conference games with the exception an 84-80 loss to Wright State on Dec. 22, 2007. Fullerton's all-time Div. I Titan Gym record is 289-163 (.639). Fullerton also is 1-8 in regular season home games at the Anaheim Convention Center.

ABOUT THE TIGERS: Occidental is 4-2 and hasn't played since a Dec. 7 win over West Coast Baptist, 63-51. The losses came to Azusa Pacific and Puget Sound. The leading scorer is freshman forward Kris Montoya at 17.3 ppg. Also in double figures are sophomore forward Deskum McCoy at 14.3 ppg and junior guard Jack Hanley at 10.3 ppg. The leading rebounder is 6-5 junior forward Jake Copithorne at 9.8 rpg.

SERIES HISTORY: Fullerton leads the series, 6-0. Last year's 97-59 CSF victory on Dec. 12 was the first meeting since 2003-04 and only the second since 1979-80.

KEY STATISTIC: Fullerton has outrebounded its opponent three times this year and each occurrence coincided with a victory. The edge in boards was 39-34 in a 3-point win at San Diego, 43-20 in a 10-point home win over Cal State Bakersfield and 27-24 in Saturday's 90-76 win.

KEY STATISTIC NUMBER TWO: Fullerton has been cold and hot at the foul line. An 11-for-24 effort was fatal in an opening 3-point loss to Central Michigan and a streak of 2 made in 7 attempts down the stretch at Montana kept the Titans behind. Conversely, the Titans made 33 of 37 in beating Cal State Bakersfield and the difference in the win at USD came at the line -- Fullerton was 18-for-23 while USD was 13-for-22. In the loss at Portland State, PSU was 19-for-23 including 9-for-9 in the final minute, while the Titans were 12-of-17.
