Lenny Daniel had a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Vinnie McGhee added 15 points Saturday night as Cal State Northridge rolled over Cal State Fullerton, 89-65, in Big West Conference action.
The Matadors (5-12, 2-3) snapped a 3-game losing streak this year and a 7-year losing streak at home to Fullerton by shooting 56 percent from the floor and 50 percent (8 of 16) from the 3-point line. Fullerton shot only 37 percent overall and 32 percent (6 of 19) behind the arc.
Northridge took control of the game by scoring the final 10 points of the second half for a 41-25 lead. Fullerton committed 10 first-half turnovers to 3 for the Matadors. The Titans never got closer than the 16-point margin in the second half as Northridge made 17 of 24 free throws.
Fullerton is home next week to first-place Long Beach State on Wednesday and second-place UC Santa Barbara on Saturday night.
