Irvine, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball led by three at halftime but could not maintain that lead and ultimately lost at UC Irvine on Wednesday night by a score of 60-53. The Titans shot just 32% from the field as their five-game winning streak was snapped.
UC Irvine went on a 17-3 run just passed the midway point of the second half to take a 41-32 lead and they would not relinquish that lead. The Anteaters were led by Max Hazzard who scored 19 points and made four three-point field goals. All seven of UCI's made three-point field goals came in the second half.
Senior guard Khalil Ahmad scored a game-high 22 points. Junior forward Jackson Rowe tallied 10 points, seven rebounds, one assists, one block and two steals. Senior guard Kyle Allman, Jr. pitched in nine points. Fullerton went 17-53 (32.1%) from the field, 15-21 (71.4%) from the stripe and 4-14 from distance. The Titans had 17 turnovers but UCI only turned those into 13 points. Whereas UCI turned the ball over 19 times and CSF converted that into 23 points.
Fullerton returns to action on Saturday at UC Riverside at 5 p.m. PT.
