CSF: John Underwood is seeking a hardship
appeal to become eligible for the 2011-12 season after transferring
from the University of Missouri due to a family emergency.
MISSOURI: John played in only 4 games this past
season for the Tigers before returning home to Phoenix... as a
freshman in 2009-10 he played minimal minutes in 14 games.
HIGH SCHOOL: John blocked more than 200 shots
during his high school career at Alhambra High in Phoenix before
transferring to Agua Fria High in Avondale for his senior year...
there he averaged 10.1 points, 10.5 rebunds and 8 blocked shots for
a team that advanced to the state tournament for Coach Paul
Murphy... he earned Class 4A-1 all-state and all-regional honors
and then played one season at Princeton Day Academy in Lanham,
Maryland, where he averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocked
shots for a 33-3 team that was ranked No. 7 nationally.
PERSONAL: Born on May 6, 1990, in Reno,
Nevada... parents are Jonathan Underwood, Sr., of Phoenix and
Kimberly Bevles of Reno... has a brother, Rico, and a sister,
Sonya... most memorable sports moment was hitting a game-winning
3-point field goal to advance his high school team to the state
playoffs... played travel ball for the Arizona Magic.
