Baseball Releases Tentative 2010 Roster

Fullerton, Calif. - Third-year Titan baseball Head Coach Dave Serrano released the 36 players bidding for spots on the Titans' 2010 roster Monday afternoon.
The tentative roster consists of five of the Titans' seven 2009 All-Americans (Daniel Renken, Christian Colon, Tyler Pill, Noe Ramirez and Nick Ramirez), as well as a summer league most valuable player (Corey Jones), a Cap Cod League All-Star (Gary Brown) and Baseball America's newly-crowned Summer League Player of the Year and Team USA Captain (Colon).
The returning cast of 19 will be welcoming 17 newcomers in a strong recruiting effort by Serrano and his assistant coaches. The incoming class features four junior transfers, a sophomore transfer and 12 incoming freshman
Five of the Titans' 10 prospects drafted in the MLB First-Year Player Draft have decided to attend Fullerton for the Fall 2009 semester. Dylan Floro (RHP, Buhoch Colony HS, 20th round, Rays), Geno Escalante (C, Rodriguez HS, 28th round Brewers), David Hurlbut (LHP, Diablo Valley College, 35th round, Twins), Anthony Hutting (OF, Tesoro HS, 38th round, Rangers) and Ivory Thomas (OF/INF, Downey HS, 42nd round, Astros) will headline the strictly Californian recruiting class.
Prospective TItans Matt Hobgood (1st round - Orioles), Tyler Skaggs (Compensation round, Angels), Jonathan Meyers (3rd round, Astros), Wes Hatton (5th round, Angels) and Andrew Bellatti (12th round, Rays) each signed professional contracts before the Aug. 17 deadline, forgoing their collegiate careers for professional ones.
Cal State Fullerton classes began on Monday. Players will begin weight training and conditioning later in the week in anticipation of the official fall practice period which begins Oct. 5.
Fullerton will begin the 2010 season on Feb. 19, 2010.
