Colon Named a Preseason All-American by Baseball America

Feb. 16, 2009

Durham, NC - Sophomore Shortstop Christian Colon was named a third-team selection by Baseball America as the publication presented its annual Preseason All-American Teams as selected by major league scouting directors.

Colon was a Baseball America, Rivals.com and Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American in 2008 after a rookie season that saw him hit .329 with four home runs and 39 RBI. He started every game for the Titans at shortstop and set the Fullerton record for the most sacrifice bunts in a season.

Colon then went on to become a key player for Team USA's perfect 24-0 run in the FISU World Championships, earning a gold medal. He led the National Team (tied with teammate Josh Fellhauer) in hits, and was the only player to play in all 24 summer games.

The shortstop will again be in the starting lineup for the Titans come Friday, Feb. 20, as Cal State Fullerton will take on TCU at Goodwin Field. He will begin the year in a new spot in the batting order, moving from the No. 2 to No. 3 hole.
