Baseball Season Just Two Weeks Away

Feb. 4, 2011

Fullerton, Calif. - The college baseball season is just two weeks away.

The No. 8 Cal State Fullerton Titans will open the 2011 campaign with their long-time cross-town rival, the Long Beach State 49ers on Fri., Feb. 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Blair Field

The following day, the Titans will have a special home-opening double-header at Goodwin Field that will feature the North Carolina Tar Heels at noon and the 49ers in the night cap beginning at 6 p.m.

The Titans-49ers non-conference series will then move back to Long Beach for the finale that is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch.

The Titans lead the all-time series with the 49ers 115-57 dating back to their first season at the Div. I level and hold a 57-28 advantage at home and on the road. Fullerton has also won the last seven meetings with Long Beach going back to 2009.

This will be North Carolina's first trip to Fullerton and will mark the first time the Titans and Tar Heels have met outside of the College World Series. Fullerton dropped a pair of games to North Carolina in Omaha in 2006.
