Feb. 1, 2010

Fullerton, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton baseball team was given a preseason ranking of No. 4 by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Rivals.com Monday morning.

With the release of the two latest polls, the Titans head into the 2010 season ranked No. 4 by four of the five major pollsters (Collegiate Baseball, Baseball America, NCBWA and Yahoo Sports) and No. 3 by the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll.

Third-year Head Coach Dave Serrano and company will be making a run at the school's fifth national title armed with a deep pitching staff and a core of solid hitters come opening day. The Titans have been picked to win the Big West Conference crown and are looking to make their 19th consecutive postseason appearance.

The Titans open with the Ducks of the University of Oregon on Feb. 19. Oregon Head Coach George Horton will be making his return to Goodwin Field for the first time as an opponent since stepping down as Titan manager in September of 2007. The Titans will then host Pepperdine and Long Beach State Feb. 20 and 21, respectively to close out the first weekend of Div. I college baseball.
