Baseball Kicks Off Official Practice Today

Fullerton, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton baseball team begins its official practice schedule this afternoon, and kick starts the countdown to Opening Day that is just three short weeks away.

The team will get right into things this afternoon with an intrasquad scrimmage at Goodwin Field that will feature pitchers David Hurlbut (5 innings), Grahamm Wiest (3-4 innings), Christian Coronado (1 inning), Chris Devenski (1 inning) and Raymond Hernandez (1 inning). The scrimmage will begin at approximately 4:15 p.m.

On Saturday, Jan. 29, The 2011 Titans will take on the Titans of old in the annual Alumni Game at Goodwin Field. Last year more than 60 former players came out for the event. First pitch for the Alumni Game will be thrown at 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free. Right-handers Tyler Pill and Jake Floethe will each get 5 innings of work on Saturday. Alumni batting practice will begin around 11:00 am.

A third straight day of scrimmaging will take place on Sunday beginning at 1:30 p.m. A slew of pitchers will see time on the mound on Sunday including Colin O'Connell (5 innings), Dylan Floro (4 innings), Ryan Ackland (1 inning), Christian Coronado (2 innings), Chris Devenski (2 innings), Raymond Hernandez (2 innings), Walker Moore (2 innings) and Nick Ramirez (1 inning.)

The Titans will set out on their quest for a fifth national title on Feb. 18, 2011 at Long Beach State.
