Fullerton, Calif. - Carlos Lopez had 3 hits and 6 RBI to help lift Cal State Fullerton to an 18-11 non-conference win over Santa Clara Sunday afternoon at Goodwin Field.

Due to commencement exercises at Cal State Fullerton, Sunday's game began at 3:30 and was called after eight innings due to Santa Clara's travel curfew.

With the win, the Titans pick up their third straight weekend sweep and improve to 37-15. Santa Clara drops to 21-30.

Santa Clara took a short-lived 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning off Titan starter Dylan Floro, as Pat Strover belted his third home run of the year, a 3-run shot out to right-center.

Fullerton not only got the 3 runs back to get Floro (6-0) off the hook, but added 4 more in the bottom of the second to get the right-hander enough for the victory.

Nick Ramirez belted his ninth home run of the year off losing pitcher Chris Mendoza (4-6) to cut the Santa Clara Lead to 3-2. The long-ball drove home Tyler Pill who was aboard on a single. Mendoza lasted just four batters into the second inning without recording an out. He left leading 3-2, but 2 more of his runners (a Billy Marcoe Single and Corey Jones walk) would come around to score before the inning was over.

Reliever Jon Hughes was greeted with a sacrifice bunt by Joey Siddons, but his first baseman Ryan Reiger couldn't hold onto it, loading the bases. After a strikeout, the righty walked home the tying run and then gave up singles to Richie Pedroza (RBI) and Carlos Lopez (2 RBI) before getting Pill to ground into a double play to end the inning.

The Titans scored on a Siddons' RBI single in the third, and again in the fourth on Carlos Lopez' 3-run homer to right to take an 11-3 lead. It was Lopez' seventh round-tripper of the season.

Floro, who worked 6 innings on Sunday, gave up two more runs over his final 2 innings before giving way to the bullpen. The righty struck out 8 and walked just 1 despite allowing 5 earned runs on 12 Bronco hits.

Before Floro left, the Titans scored five more times, with the bulk of the scoring coming in the Titans' 4-run fifth. The Titans sent 9 men to the plate, with 5 of them reaching safely with a hit. Christian Colon, Pedroza, and Lopez each picked up RBI with the fourth run coming home on a throwing error by second baseman Ian O'Connor. Colon added another RBI with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to give Fullerton the 16-5 lead.

After a scoreless seventh by Colin O'Connell, Santa Clara handled relievers David Hurlbut (3 runs in .1 inning) and Derrick Dingeman (3 runs in .1 inning), scoring six times in their race against the clock. The Broncos sent 12 men to the plate and connected for five hits while being hit by a pitch 3 times and walking once. Tommy Medica drove home 2 with an RBI double, O'Connor had an RBI single, Stover had an RBI single and on run was scored on a Dingeman wild pitch.

Kevin Rath came on in relief of Dingeman and plunked the first man he faced before getting the final out of the game.

Richie Pedroza also had 3 hits for the Titans, and Pill and defensive replacement Zach Tanida each had 2 hits to contribute to the Titan 19-hit attack.

Strover was 5-for-5 on the afternoon and was flanked by Matt Ozanne who was 3-for-3. Santa Clara pounded out 17 hits in the loss.

The Titans will next face UCLA Tuesday evening at Goodwin Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. with O'Connell (0-1) on the hill for Fullerton.
