FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton is set to play its first fall game of the season, as the Titans travel to the desert to take on Arizona on Sunday at noon PT out at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona.
The Titans and Wildcats will play two nine innings contests. The first will begin at noon PT, while the second will start one hour after the conclusion of the first one. Sloan Park serves as the Spring Training home of the Chicago Cubs. The stadium also serves as the home of the Arizona League Cubs of the Arizona League and the Mesa Solar Sox of the Arizona Fall League.
The Wildcats are coming off a 2018 campaign that saw them go 34-22 overall and 14-16 in Pac-12 play, good enough for sixth in the conference. Arizona just missed out on qualifying for the NCAA postseason last season, but was in the College World Series Finals as recently as 2016. The Wildcats are led by head coach Jay Johnson.
Last time these two sides, the Titans managed to upset then ranked No. 12 Arizona 4-0 on March 15th, 2017 at Goodwin Field.
Fullerton's incoming class made up off 18 newcomers (12 freshmen and six junior college transfers) is tops in the Big West Conference and the fourth highest on the West Coast according to the rankings, falling just behind UCLA, Arizona and USC.
