Annual Family Fun Day Set for Saturday

FULLERTON, Calif. – Titan fans can catch a preview of the 2014 Cal State Fullerton baseball squad on Saturday as the four-time national champions will host the program's annual Family Fun Day, followed by an intrasquad scrimmage at Goodwin Field.

Saturday's seven-inning scrimmage, which starts at 12:20 p.m., will mark the Titans' final day of fall ball.

Admission to Goodwin Field is free of charge as the Titans will scrimmage following Family Fun Day.

Family Fun Day festivities will begin with a free youth clinic for kids 13-and-under from 9-10:30 a.m.

During the clinic, participants will be instructed by Fullerton coaches and student-athletes on all aspects of the game including hitting, fielding and pitching with stations set up on the main diamond and in the bullpens and batting cages.

If your child is interested in participating in this special event, players need to sign up at www.titanbaseballacademy.com. Participating children should wear baseball attire and bring their hats, cleats and glove for the workout.

The Titans return 19 players from last year's 2013 Super Regional squad, including the team's starting weekend rotation and 89 percent of the squad's innings from last season's Big West championship effort.

The Titans have added 11 newcomers for the 2014 season, after finishing the 2013 season with a record of 51-10 (.836) – the second-best winning percentage in program history. After winning its 27th conference title (19th Big West), the Titans received a No. 5 national seed and advanced to the Fullerton Super Regional before losing back-to-back games to eventual College World Series champion UCLA.

Cal State Fullerton's 2013 recruiting class received a No. 12 evaluation from Baseball America's annual top-25 review in October, and in September, Collegiate Baseball evaluated the 2013 class at No. 7 in the nation.

Fullerton was the only program from the Big West Conference ranked in Baseball America's top-25 evaluation, and CSF was one of only three programs from California ranked in the top-25 along with No. 22 Loyola Marymount and No. 24 USC.

Saturday is expected to a busy day on campus, as Cal State Fullerton will be hosting a tripleheader at Titan Gym. The women's basketball squad tips-off against Fresno State at noon, followed by the men's basketball team's home opener vs. Santa Clara at 3 p.m. The day comes to a close when the CSF volleyball team hosts Long Beach State at 7:30 p.m.
