San Marcos Wins Meet

Fullerton, Calif. - Cal State San Marcos dominated the collegiate competition Friday evening at the Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational Cross Country Meet, sweeping to a pair of victories.

The Cougars got a 1-2-3-6-10 finish in the women's 5K race and a 1-2-4-5-6 finish in the men's 8K to easily outdistance the fields, which included 10 women's teams and 8 men's squads.

Suzanne Cornwell of CSUSM won the women's race in 17:01.7 and the Cougars' Western Nelson was the first male collegian across the finish line in 24:20.5. Running unattached, Sergy Sushchikh led all the men in 24:05.9.

Host Cal State Fullerton entered only a handful of individuals, resting the "A" team for the Big West Conference championships a week from Saturday. Allison Murray ran 58th overall in 19:17.5 to pace the CSF women while Kyle Lintz was the first Fullerton male to cross the line, finishing 65th overall in 26:40.9.
