FULLERTON, Calif. – Members of the men's and women's Cal State Fullerton cross country teams will be in Seattle on Friday to compete in the 2012 NCAA West Regional Championships at the Jefferson Park Golf Course.
Hosted by the University of Washington, the event starts at noon with the women's 6,000-meter race, which is followed at 1:15 p.m. by the men's 10,000-meter race.
TITAN HISTORY AT NCAA WEST REGIONALS
Cal State Fullerton's best men's team finish at the West Regionals was ninth place with a total of 210 points in 1993. In 1992, the women placed seventh with a score of 161. Mike Tansley has the best Titan finish at the NCAA West Regionals, finishing seventh in 1993 with a time of 30:19.8.

Each team is allowed seven runners. Of those, the top five account for the team score and the next two may displace runners from opposing teams.
ABOUT THE WEST REGION
All teams from the NCAA West Region are invited to compete at the NCAA West Regional. The West Region includes teams from the states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. There are three western Universities that are exceptions: Idaho State, Nevada and Northern Arizona, which compete in the Mountain Region.
THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
There are nine NCAA Regional Championships held on Friday, and the top two teams from each Regional will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships held on Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky.
At-large bids will then be decided for 13 men's and 13 women's teams on Saturday. The top four individual finishers who are not part of the top two regional teams will be selected to compete in the NCAA Championships with the provision of finishing in the top 25. On Saturday, two additional individuals will be selected to the NCAA championships with an at-large bid.
The University of Washington will host the 2012 NCAA West Regionals at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle.
