Academic Honors for Hurdler Williams

New Orleans, LA - Cal State Fullerton senior hurdler Lauren Williams is an All-American scholar-athlete honoree for 2011 as determined by the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.

Williams, the four-time Big West Conference champion in the 100 meter hurdles, is one of 663 women honored nationally for a combination of athletic and scholastic excellence.

Selected to the top awards were Oregon distance runner and sophomore Jordan Hasay as indoor track scholar/athlete of the year; Arizona high jumper and sophomore Brigetta Barrett as indoor field scholar/athlete of the year; Villanova distance runner and senior Sheila Reid as outdoor track scholar/athlete of the year; and Northwestern State discus thrower and junior Trecey Rew as outdoor field scholar/athlete of the year.

Williams previously was selected Cal State Fullerton's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2010 and she is eligible for the 2011 award.
