FULLERTON, Calif. --- Senior Ifunanya Gwacham finished the first day of competition in the heptathlon as part of the Big West Conference Multi-Event Championship in fifth place (2,915 points) after competing in four events at Titan Track Complex on Friday.
Gwacham clocked a time of 14.89 in the 100-meter hurdles to earn 856 points before her high jump mark of 1.55 meters totaled 678 points. She picked up 614 points with a throw of 11.28 meters in the shot put, before ending her day with a time of 26.35 in the 200 meters (767).
Riley Cooks of Long Beach State leads the field with 3,444 points, followed by Tayler Fleming of UC Riverside (3,189), Tori Usgaard of UC Santa Barbara (3,147) and Dilini Amarasekara of UC Riverside (2,950).
Fullerton junior Jordan Agnew is in 14th place with a total of 2,535 points.
The men's decathlon continues at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Titan Track Complex while the heptathlon starts at noon.
