FULLERTON, Calif.—Cal State Fullerton's track and field program gets back to work this Friday and Saturday, as the squad will split up, with half competing in the Pasadena Games in Pasadena, California and the other half participating in the UCI Spring Break Invitational in Irvine, California.
The Titans will send 28 athletes to compete in 10 separate events up in Pasadena. Katie Wilson will try and follow up her conference-best, 55.82 performance in the 400-meter from last weekend at the Aztec Invitational, as she'll run in the 400-meter, 200-meter, and participate in the 4x100-meter relay.
Deena Pierce aims to build off last weekend's personal best performances, as she'll participate in the 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, and the 4x400-meter relay for the second consecutive week. Ashley Sims will also try and continue her climb towards the top of the conference rankings, as she looks to improve on a 200-meter time (24.19), that already ranks as the third best in the Big West. She will also take part in the 4x400-meter relay.
On the men's side, Bryan Luther will compete in the 100 and 200-meter, while Javon May will take part in the 110-meter hurdles, as well as the 400-meter hurdles.
Walter Whitaker and Jasmyne Davis will take center stage for the field athletes, as Whitaker will compete in the men's long jump and Davis will participate in the women's triple jump.
Casey Candelaria (800-meter), Kara Kalmer (pole vault), and Ana Valdovinos (1500-meter) will be some faces to look out for, as they'll lead the women's team at the UCI Invite. Jayson Perez (3000-meter, Steeple), Ian Sparks (Javelin), Brandon Cook (800-meter, 4x400-meter), and Shawn McNany (pole vault) look to lead the way for the men's squad in Irvine.
