Sept. 1, 2005
FULLERTON, CA -
The Cal State Fullerton athletics department announced Thursday that Jennifer McGhen has been hired as ticket manager and former Titan All-American Gina Oaks has been appointed assistant softball coach.
McGhen graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2004 with a bachelors degree in advertising and spent five years as an assistant working in the Cal State Fullerton ticket office. She spent two seasons (2002-04) working in the ticket office with the NHL's Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and recently spent one year working at Oakley as a sports marketing assistant for traditional sports.
Oaks, a 2003 Cal State Fullerton graduate with a degree in kinesiology, returns to the field where she spent four seasons (2000-03) as a pitcher/utility player under Head Coach Michelle Gromacki, earning All-America honors as a junior and senior. One of only four players in Titan softball history to earn all-conference honors all four years of her playing career, Oaks spent last season as an assistant coach at Azusa Pacific helping lead the Cougars to a 32-16 overall record and a 10-14 mark in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
She has spent the better part of the last four years playing with the U.S. Elite National Team, including winning the Canada Cup in 2003, and has played professionally in the United States for the last two seasons with the National Pro Fastpitch's New York/New Jersey Juggernaut and Chicago Bandits, winning the league championship with the Juggernaut in 2004.
