Golf Tourney Nets $40K

May 18, 2011

Yorba Linda, Calif., - Nearly \$40,000 was raised for the Cal State Fullerton athletics scholarship budget Monday at the annual Titans Athletics Department Golf Tournament at Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda.

Approximately 100 golfers competed with the climax being a golf ball drop from a hovering helicopter. Nick Posthuma, a first-team All-Big West Conference forward on the men's soccer team, had the lucky ball and won a prize of \$5,000. Honorable mention All-Big West women's tennis player Tiffany Mai took third place and won an iPad and the second-place prize of \$1,000 went to Jill Young.

Each Cal State Fullerton athlete, coach and staff member was asked to sell 10 "opportunities" for the ball drop and more than 3,000 balls were dropped.
